En nombre de la doctora Irene Klinger, Directora del Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales, y del señor David Morris, Director de la Secretaría de Cumbres, tenemos el agrado de informarle que la Secretaría General de la Organización de los Estados Americanos ha asignado la responsabilidad de coordinación del proceso de registro y la participación de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil en las actividades de la Organización al Asuntos Internacionales de la OEA (DAI). Del mismo modo, el Departamento apoyará a la Secretaría de Cumbres en facilitar la participación de la sociedad civil en el Proceso de las Cumbres de las Américas.
El Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales diseñará e implementará las estrategias necesarias para promover la participación de la sociedad civil en las actividades de la OEA y sus cuerpos políticos, así como para responder a las solicitudes de los órganos, agencias y entidades de la OEA para intercambiar información, brindar asesoría y ofrecer recomendaciones sobre las políticas de los Estados Miembros en relación con los temas prioritarios del Hemisferio. En este sentido estaremos en contacto con ustedes para recibir sus insumos y solicitar sus puntos de vista respecto a la manera de construir la mejor relación de la OEA y las organizaciones de la sociedad civil para promover la democracia, la paz, la seguridad y la prosperidad en las Américas.

On behalf of Dr. Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of International Affairs, and Mr. David Morris, Director of the Summits Secretariat, we wish to inform you that the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States has assigned the responsibility for coordination of the registration process and the participation of civil society organizations in the activities of the Organization to the Department of International Affairs of the OAS (DIA). As such, this Department will support the Summits Secretariat to facilitate the participation of civil society organizations in the Process of the Summits of the Americas.
The Department of International Affairs will design and implement the necessary strategies to promote the participation of civil society in the activities of the OAS and its political bodies, in order to respond to the requests of the organs, agencies and entities of the OAS to exchange information, provide advice and offer recommendations regarding the policies of the Member States in relation to the priority themes of the Hemisphere. In order to facilitate this process, this Department coordinates the registration of civil society organizations in the OAS. In this sense, we will be in contact with you to receives your input and request your points of view regarding how to coordinate the best relationship between the OAS and civil society organizations in order to promote democracy, peace, security and prosperity in the Americas.
